Rainy Day

Today is such a rainy day. I'm not sure why weather effects our moods so much but it seems to at times. There are some days where the rain is refreshing and I invite the heavenly moisture to feed the earth around me.

There are some days where rain seems fun. I have a good friend Blanche that shares my fun rain memories with me. It started when we were working together at the Tim Horton's in Wetaskiwin. It was usually late at night and raining out. We would take off our shoes and socks and roll up the pants of our uniform to run out side and splash each other and jump in the puddles until the numbness of our feet was so frigid we had to go inside and "burn" them warm again.

Then there are the rainy days that make you want to be away from where you are. (These usually happen to me on days like today when I'm at work) My daydreaming usually takes me either to Hawaii or someplace warm or to my couch, hidden deep beneath a heavy warm blanket. Those times are best topped off with a good movie and a fireplace. Mmmm.
But, at least we have the Lord's promise that it will stop eventually. And his glorious promise shines bright through the canvas of the sky! What a beautiful reminder He blesses us with. And so rain...I may not like you now, but you remind me of the beautiful promises I've recieved and the final destination of my Journey.

I, too, have many happy rain memories - when I was in Jr. High I used to love to go walking in the rain (in my bare feet). But those were nice, warm rains that brought a welcome coolness to a hot day. I agree, these kinds of rainy days - the ones that bring a damp coldness and require us to turn the furnace on (yes, I turned my furnace on) are days when the couch and a good book call out louder than work. A fireplace would be much nicer than the furnace, BTW. Let's just say that for me, this cold, rainy day has been a day "off". But! I've read a good book.

Hi guys,
I love the rain, and I love the sound of the rain when I wake up at night and the window is open and it's been a long, hot day and we get a thunderstorm in the wee hours.

Congrats on the new job too!
